2027 Kawasaki Versys 1100 launched in India at ₹13.89 lakh, but the updates are barely there

Kawasaki has rolled out the 2027 Versys 1100 in India at ₹13.89 lakh, ex-showroom. If that sounds familiar, it’s because the new model year is essentially a carryover. Same engine. Same equipment. Same single colour scheme. Even the sticker price remains unchanged.

That makes the Versys 1100 one of those rare launches that is more paperwork than product news. For buyers, though, it still matters because this is Kawasaki’s big sport-tourer in India, and it sits in a segment where riders usually cross-shop based on long-distance comfort, engine character and equipment rather than outright performance numbers.

The motorcycle continues with a 1,099cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine that makes 135 PS at 9,000 rpm and 112 Nm at 7,600 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Kawasaki’s inline-fours are known for their smooth, hushed delivery, and the Versys 1100 is aimed squarely at riders who want effortless highway pace with a broad, usable mid-range. It is not pretending to be an off-road machine. This is a road-focused tourer built for expressways, fast state highways and all-day riding comfort.

The chassis and running gear stay familiar too. The bike uses long-travel suspension with 150 mm at the front and 152 mm at the rear, 17-inch wheels at both ends, a 21-litre fuel tank and an upright riding position. Kerb weight is listed at 257 kg, while seat height stands at 820 mm and ground clearance at 150 mm. For a rider moving up from a smaller ADV or a middleweight sport-tourer, that weight will be part of the deal; it promises stability, but it also means this is a motorcycle that wants a confident hand at low speeds.

Feature-wise, the Versys 1100 still comes loaded. Highlights include:

  • Three-mode traction control
  • Selectable power modes
  • Cruise control
  • Cornering ABS
  • Kawasaki Cornering Management Function
  • Assist and slipper clutch
  • Electronic throttle valves
  • USB Type-C charging port
  • Full-LED lighting
  • Adjustable windscreen

The instrument cluster remains LCD/semidigital rather than a full-colour TFT setup, which is where some rivals may look newer on the showroom floor. That said, the feature list is still substantial for a machine that is primarily about covering distance without drama.

Styling hasn’t changed either. You still get twin LED headlamps, compact indicators, a tall adjustable windscreen, split seat and the familiar clean-mount pannier-ready bodywork. The 2027 bike is offered in just one shade: Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray/Metallic Diablo Black. It’s a sensible, understated finish, though hardly exciting for a “new” model year.

For Indian buyers, the rivals are clear enough. The Versys 1100 will be compared with machines such as the Triumph Tiger 900 GT and BMW F 900 GS space, though the Kawasaki’s bigger engine and road-biased touring brief give it a different flavour. It also sits near premium naked bikes like the Ducati Monster in price, even if the use case is very different.

Kawasaki has not announced any India-specific mechanical changes for 2027, and the model appears to be a straight MY rollover. That makes it more of a steady carry-forward than a true update, unlike the 2027 Kawasaki Ninja 500 that arrived almost unchanged. Buyers who were waiting for a TFT console, fresh colours or a meaningful electronics upgrade will be disappointed.

For reference, Kawasaki’s official Indian product page lists the Versys range here: Kawasaki India. The company also continues to broaden its 2027 portfolio with model-year updates across the range, including the fresh shades for the Kawasaki Z line-style treatment seen elsewhere in the market, though the Versys itself hasn’t benefited from that kind of cosmetic refresh.

At ₹13.89 lakh ex-showroom, the 2027 Versys 1100 remains a large, refined touring motorcycle for riders who value relaxed performance over flashy updates. It is the same well-rounded package it was before — just with a new model year stamped on the brochure.
