Bajaj Dominar 400 Overview

The Dominar 400 is aimed at riders who want a powerful cruiser for weekend trips and regular highway use, rather than a light, low-seat commuter. Its 40.04 bhp is well ahead of the Jawa All Stars 42 Bobber’s 29.51 bhp, while four riding modes and a six-speed gearbox offer different settings and gearing choices. Dual-channel ABS helps prevent either wheel from locking during hard braking. Turn-by-turn navigation and a front USB port add useful touring convenience.

Its claimed 30 kmpl matches the Bobber but is below the Honda CB350C’s claimed 38 kmpl; the Honda is also lighter at 186kg versus 190kg. The Dominar’s 800mm seat is higher than the Meteor 350’s 765mm, and its 13-litre tank is smaller than the Honda’s 15.2-litre tank. It is priced around the Bobber and above the Meteor, trading lower weight and a lower seat for substantially more power.

  • 40.04 bhp gives it a clear power advantage over the listed Jawa and Royal Enfield rivals.
  • Dual-channel ABS helps prevent both wheels from locking during hard braking.
  • Four riding modes offer Road, Rain, Sport and Off-Road choices.
  • Turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth and call/SMS alerts support touring convenience.
  • The pillion seat includes a backrest, footrests and a grab rail.

What we like

  • Strong power output compared with the listed cruiser rivals.
  • Dual-channel ABS and traction control are included.
  • Navigation, Bluetooth and a front USB port add practical touring features.
  • Pillion backrest and grab rail are provided.

What could be better

  • At 190kg, it is heavier than several listed rivals.
  • Its 800mm seat is taller than the Meteor 350’s 765mm seat.
  • Claimed 30 kmpl is below the Honda CB350C’s claimed 38 kmpl.

Best for: Buy it if you want a high-powered cruiser with touring-focused features and can manage its weight and seat height.
