Ducati DesertX Overview
The DesertX is for riders seeking an adventure bike with substantial off-road capability, not a compact choice for routine city use. Its 250 mm ground clearance, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, adjustable suspension and six riding modes, including two off-road modes, make it well equipped for varied terrain. The 937 cc twin produces 108.6 bhp, and Ducati Cornering ABS provides braking support when cornering.
At 223 kg, it is lighter than the Triumph Tiger 1200, but the Tiger has more power. The DesertX’s 875 mm seat on Standard and Discovery, rising to 910 mm on Rally, may be challenging for shorter riders. Its 17.8 kmpl mileage is claimed; the BMW F 900 GS Adventure’s 22.7 kmpl is a better claim. The DesertX is also priced above the Ducati Multistrada V2, whose seat is lower at 830 mm.
- 250 mm ground clearance helps clear obstacles on rough routes.
- Adjustable suspension lets riders tune the setup to conditions.
- Six riding modes include two off-road modes for varied terrain.
- Ducati Cornering ABS and dual-channel ABS support controlled braking.
- Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation and a 5-inch TFT aid journeys.
What we like
- Strong 108.6 bhp output from its 937 cc twin.
- High ground clearance and 21/18-inch wheel combination suit off-road riding.
- Adjustable front and rear suspension.
- Cornering ABS, traction control and multiple riding modes are listed.
What could be better
- The 875 mm seat is tall; the Rally version is taller still at 910 mm.
- The 17.8 kmpl mileage is claimed, and the BMW F 900 GS Adventure has a higher claim.
- At 223 kg, it is not a lightweight option.
Best for: Buy it if you want a powerful, off-road-oriented adventure bike and are comfortable managing its tall seat and weight.
