KTM RC 390 Overview
The KTM RC 390 is a focused sport bike for riders who want strong acceleration and a feature-rich setup for spirited rides. Its 42.9 bhp output is paired with a six-speed gearbox, quickshifter and assist-and-slipper clutch, which reduces the need to operate the clutch for every gear change. Dual-channel ABS helps prevent either wheel from locking under hard braking, while traction control adds another layer of assistance. The claimed mileage is 29 kmpl.
Against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the RC makes more power and has better claimed mileage, but its 835 mm seat is much taller than the Ninja’s 785 mm seat. It is priced around the Ninja 300 and below the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, which makes more power but weighs more. The RC’s tall seat may not suit shorter riders, and its 13.7-litre tank, lack of under-seat storage and absent USB port are practical compromises.
- 42.9 bhp and 37 Nm provide the highest power among the RC’s listed comparisons except the Continental GT 650.
- Quickshifter allows gear changes without using the clutch for every shift.
- Dual-channel ABS helps prevent both wheels from locking during hard braking.
- Claimed mileage of 29 kmpl is higher than the Kawasaki Ninja 300’s 27 kmpl.
- Adjustable rear suspension preload lets riders change the setting to suit their needs.
- Bluetooth-connected TFT display includes turn-by-turn navigation.
What we like
- More power and better claimed mileage than the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
- Quickshifter, traction control and dual-channel ABS are included.
- Front and rear suspension preload adjusters are provided.
- LED projector headlamp and turn-by-turn navigation add useful equipment.
What could be better
- The 835 mm seat is taller than the listed rivals’ seats.
- No USB charging port or under-seat storage.
- The 13.7-litre tank is smaller than the Kawasaki Ninja 300’s 17-litre tank.
Best for: The RC 390 suits riders seeking a powerful, feature-rich sport bike who are comfortable with its tall seat and limited storage.
