The 890 Adventure R stands out as a high-clearance, powerful adventure bike for riders prioritising touring and adventure routes over easy everyday access. Its 103 bhp, 100 Nm twin-cylinder engine is paired with a six-speed manual, riding modes and an assist-and-slipper clutch. A 263mm ground clearance, adjustable WP suspension and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels give it an adventure-focused hardware package; dual-channel ABS covers both disc brakes. Its claimed mileage is 22.2 kmpl, alongside a 20-litre tank.
The compromises are clear: its 880mm seat may be difficult for shorter riders, and its 215kg kerb weight adds effort when manoeuvring at a standstill. There is no under-seat storage. It is priced below the BMW F 900 GS, and is 4kg lighter with 7Nm more torque, though the BMW’s seat is slightly lower. The Tiger 900 Alpine Edition is priced below the KTM and offers more power, while its 820mm seat is much lower. This is a specialised, tall adventure choice rather than an obvious commuter.
